Beyond Buzzwords: How We Live Our Core Values

When you hear the term “core values”, it’s easy to dismiss it as just more corporate jargon to roll your eyes at. Especially when they are reduced to exactly that if companies are misaligned with their core values.

In 2021, the Rust Belt team embarked on implementing EOS to position our organization for growth.

What is EOS?

EOS, or the Entrepreneurial Operating System®, is a set of simple concepts and practical tools that are designed to help entrepreneurs get what they want from their business.

EOS defines core values as:

“A timeless set of guiding principles that define your culture and the behaviors you expect from each other. They help you determine who fits your culture and who doesn’t, and they help you attract like-minded people to your team.”

EOS guided our leaders through the introspective process of shaping the core values of Rust Belt Recruiting and they remain as our North Star today.

In this blog post, we will define what each of our core values means to us and showcase how our team lives them out every day to foster meaningful relationships with our clients and candidates.

Integrity

Let your actions lead and the results will follow

In a world where shortcuts may seem more convenient, we choose the path of integrity. It’s about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. Always!

This can look like:

  • Making things right if a client overpays
  • Being honest with each other if any workplace conflicts arise
  • Being transparent when a role isn’t the right fit for a candidate
  • Being straight-forward if a prospective client relationship isn’t conducive

Impact-Oriented

Fueled by driving positive change

When we say impact-oriented, that applies to our relationships with both clients and candidates. The impact that our services bring to Rust Belt’s clients should go without saying. Filling a role in a facility helps contribute to production, create or improve efficiencies, and generate greater revenue through productivity. But for our candidates, the impact is usually an entirely different vision.

Impact looks like:

  • Securing Mike a role that he can retire in
  • Giving Evander job stability and reduced stress
  • Helping Lisa achieve work-life balance
  • Positioning Joe for career growth

These are the kinds of success stories that move mightily through our organization.

Quality Standard

Displays excellence in all that they do

How we ensure quality is driven by the human element of our business. We get to know more about our candidates than just what pay they are looking for and if they meet the minimum job requirements. We prioritize getting to know the person we’re speaking with. What do they like to do for fun? Do they have children?

Taking the extra time to get to know our candidates ensures that we’re presenting clients with quality candidates as promised.

Personality

Able to be personable and authentically themselves

As we continue to grow, so does our culture. Our team embodies a diverse range of personalities, perspectives, and experiences. This core value allows our team to speak comfortably and candidly with our candidates and clients to create genuine relationships.

Because of that emphasis on in-office culture, having personality within our organization is also important because we want our team to feel free to crack jokes, be vulnerable, and truly be themselves!

Solution Oriented

Has an instinctively proactive approach in facing issues

To be solution-oriented means to work hard and embody a “can do” attitude. Each of our team members has proven to exceed expectations, bring fresh ideas to the table, achieve their goals, and show enthusiasm and professionalism in their work. They are willing to go the extra mile to accelerate Rust Belt’s mission of making an impact in our region.

This solution-oriented mindset shines particularly bright in our client relationships.

We aim to not only deliver our clients with top talent but to leave them with a better understanding of how to develop and execute hiring strategies. Simply put, we believe in offering solutions to our clients, not temporary fixes.

Separate and together, we share the pursuit of our mission – bridging the gap between hard-working people and meaningful workplaces.
